Skills, Resilience & Life Mastery

Skills, Resilience & Life Mastery is the GoldBlock pillar about real-world capability: the everyday competence to manage money and spot fraud, the depth of a skilled trade, and preparedness for when water, food, power or help is not available. Each guide states what official agencies and published sources say, with the source beside each claim.
How the pillar is organized
The guides are grouped in three layers:
- Everyday competence: money basics, recognizing fraud, and where small jobs end and licensed work begins.
- Depth in a trade: what skilled trades pay, what apprenticeship involves, and what a contractor’s license requires.
- Preparedness: water, food, shelter and heat, medical and first aid, and tools, for when normal systems fail.
The guides
Personal Capability & Everyday Skills. FINRA Foundation measurements of financial knowledge and emergency savings, FTC fraud figures and its four signs of a scam, and California’s minor work exemption.
Trades & Craftsmanship. BLS wages and openings for four trades, construction labor demand, registered apprenticeship (including what it can cost) and California’s contractor license requirements.
Survival & Preparedness. The preparedness hub, which leads to five guides: water, food, shelter and heat, medical and first aid, and tools.
More areas will join this pillar over time. They are not links yet.
How to use this
This pillar teaches how things work so you can decide what to learn, what to hire out, or whether to train for a trade. It is educational, not a set of orders. Some of this work carries real physical risk, so for anything beyond your experience, get hands-on training or a qualified professional. See our full disclaimer.
The body is covered in Human Performance & Health. Money, income and technology are covered in Systems, Wealth & Technology. The full set of guides across all three pillars lives in the Library.
